food franchise

what should i major in college if i am planning on owning some type of fast food franchise in a few years?

i want to open a fast food chain when i grow up. My parents said i must go to college first though. If i do go, i don’t even know what i should be majoring in, can someone help me? Do i even need a college education for this?

Business administration would be a good major. This would give you the background to run a business and have a better chance of success.

To open a franchise, you’ll need a lot of money. Many of the fast food websites give you estimates of how much money you’ll need and what your net worth has to be.

Is it hard to establish a food franchise?

Just like how the founders of McDonald’s, KFC, Subway made there idea’s successful. How would i do this? I want it to be a descent Restraunt chain like Franky and Benny’s, or Bennigans. Is it hard to establish your own food chain? I am not on about opening one individual family restraunt. I want it to go international and have locations around the world. Is it hard to do this? Could someone please tell me the best way of going about this? I am in year 10 and i am doing my GCSE’s.

If you BUY in to a franchise, it is simple… It just requires the payment of the franchise fee to the corporation.

To make a small business into a franchise, you have to work your a*s off.

MOST restaurants don’t last 2 years… Go wander around your town and look at how many of the places have changed ownership or names since you moved there…

Keeping a place open on its own long term is a hard thing to do… Let alone making that one location popular enough to justify expanding to a 2nd location is SUPER SUPER hard.

Plan on dedicating your existence to the pursuit of keeping your business open… Plan on spending 160 hours a week at the location… Doing Taxes… Payroll… Supplies… Cleaning… Inspections…

See it as getting married to a building… And she will demand that you spend ALL your time worshiping her and caring for her.

strong>About Wan Chai

Wan Chai Hong Kong Tea Room is a pioneer in offering a Hong Kong-style café outside its home country. The Wan Chai HK Tea Room is a market leader in freshly produced Hong Kong-style food at extremely competitive prices. Its success comes from being profitable almost from the very beginning as well as being extremely well received by its clientele. The growth since its inception has been overwhelming — building itself steadily as a major market player, financial strength, distinctive brand and solid management.

The company’s vision is to be a leading regional HK café chain, recognized for its strong brand name, high quality total concept, friendly and warm service crew, and freshly produced meals at reasonable prices.

The Man Behind Wan Chai

Wan Chai HK Tea Room was founded by Mr. John Lim who is a seasoned professional with more than 26 years of F&B experience. He served in Consortium of Consultants (F&B) to Sarinah Jayah of Indonesia in 1986. He also participated in a Study Mission with PSB to Japan in 1990. He had managed the F&B outlets in these Premier Lifestyle Clubs: Tanah Merah Golf Club (12 years), Jurong Country Club (16 years) and Temasek Club (9 years).

The Prospective Franchisee

This is one of the perfect business investments for someone who has an entrepreneurial spirit, strong interest in the Singapore food franchise industry, great leadership and a slant towards hospitality and customer service. It would also be a bonus if the business is ran by the franchisee personally.

What does Wan Chai offer for its Franchisees?

The Wan Chai HK Tea Room Franchise is a turn-key package that covers every aspect of the business franchise for its success. A full training, both on the business and culinary aspects, would allow franchisees to benefit from the vast experience and knowledge of John Lim and his management team.

As the food and beverages are prepared from a central kitchen, only a minimum space needs to be allotted for the kitchen in franchised outlets, making it suitable for prime retail and in-store concession locations such as shopping centers and large business premises.

Secrets Revealed!

Several factors contribute to the success of Wan Chai HK Tea Room. For one, it is a unique total concept coupled with the high quality of food at very affordable prices. Its all-day menu, served by a very friendly service team, is another reason diners keep coming back. How to Decide if a Food Service Franchise is Right for You

Not everyone has the right personality and mindset to launch a successful food service franchise. Some that think they do may find that they are unhappy while others who don’t initially consider a food service franchise decide that it’s exactly the right path for them. When it comes to choosing a food service franchise or building your own restaurant brand from scratch, there are several points to consider before choosing a path.

Can you live with an established process?
In order to run a successful food service franchise, you’ll need to possess an entrepreneurial spirit, but also be willing to “stay within the lines” of the already established operational procedures. For some people, owning a business where they must conform to preconceived ideals that they may not necessarily whole-heartedly agree with, is little more than being someone else’s employee. If you have very strong convictions about doing things your own way, ownership of a food franchise may not be for you.

On the other hand, the reason food service franchise companies have such systematic processes, is because they are profitable. A study conducted by Ohio State University shows that between 57% and 61% of new restaurants fail within 5 years of operations. Some of these are food service franchises, but more are independent restaurants. With such a steep rate of failures, having a system to depend on is considered by many to be one of the most significant benefits of food service franchises.

Consider your financing limitations
If around 60% of restaurants fail within 5 years, that means that a healthy percentage of new restaurants remain profitable and successful. If you’re certain that your independent restaurant will be successful in your area, then the odds are good that it will. Building a restaurant from the ground up can add up to hundreds of thousands, if not millions of dollars when you factor in brand development, menu creation, advertising, establishing procedures, equipment purchase, etc.

You’ll also need to have a cushion for unexpected costs and to help you navigate through difficult times. If you truly don’t have all of the money you need, you may be placing yourself in a very vulnerable position. Another benefit of food service franchises is that you can generally get into the opportunity with much less starting capital than if you were to build a restaurant from the ground up. That’s because the menu is established, the promotional materials created, the paperwork streamlined, and advertising costs are shared between the entire food service franchise network.

Ultimately, deciding whether or not food service franchising is right for you depends what will truly make you feel satisfied. If your ultimate dream is to create your own menu and restaurant ambiance but you don’t have the funding to get it off the ground, perhaps your efforts are better spent raising capital. However, if you like the idea of entering into an established business with a proven success record, a food service franchise may be the ideal solution for you.

Food franchise giving left-overs to charity?

I work for a nation-wide food franchise and every night I work, we throw out a ton of food (bread, vegetables and meat). I was wondering if we were to donate the left-over food to charity if we could be held legally responsible if anything were to happen.

Should we not donate the meat?

Should we make up a written agreement?

What about the good citizen act?

Write to the company you wish to donate to and include the following text in a contract

"The COMPANY (donator) herein takes no liability for any food provided in the donation. The receiving company claims all liability. By signing this agreement we hereby agree not to hold the donator company liable for any damages or suits."

This will protect you from the company you wish to donate it to.
